We can assist crime victims with needs such as: Crisis Intervention and Referral Counseling: We provide support and reassurance to assist with the emotional trauma of a crime. We guide victims to other appropriate community resources for assistance. Emergency Assistance: We can often meet a victim's immediate needs by providing emergency food, and referrals for clothing and shelter. Security Repairs: We replace locks, windows and other necessities to reduce the likelihood that a victim's home will be reburglarized. Criminal Justice System Information and Support: We can direct victims to the appropriate areas in the criminal justice system, which offer additional victim services and advocacy programs. Who do we assist? We provide support to crime victims and their families. Our staff will work with you to assess your situation, as well as your immediate need. Neighbors in Christ primarily serves Montgomery County, but also assists victims in Autauga, Elmore and Lowndes counties on an as-needed basis. We work with local agencies such as Family Sunshine Center for Domestic Violence and Standing Together Against Rape, and The One Place Family Justice Center. The Police Department, District Attorney's Office, and Sheriff's Department in Montgomery, as well as various other victim organizations have all participated in making NIC a viable program. Our main goal is to let victims who have been traumatized by crime know that someone cares. And while we are a non-profit Christian organization, our volunteers and staff do not evangelize, but will offer spiritual assistance if the victims requests it.
